Kale Mathews entered the great hall of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft And Wizardry on September first, her robes tied around her waist, and hair flowing as though a sudden wind was blowing towards her. Placing her hands on her hips, she strutted to the Slytherin table, the usual smirk upon her face. She sat down gracefully, as her her elbow rested on the table, and her chin upon her upturned hand. She watched as the small first years walked in through the doors, and looked around, intimadation and fear written all over their faces. She watched as each child placed the hat on his or her head, awaiting it's judgement. Kale cheered along with her fellow Slytherins as one was added to their ranks, as well as booed and hissed when one was added to another house. But soon the sorting began to bore Kale. She did not have the longest attention span, and it wasn't like the sorting was anything interesting. She allowed her gaze to scan the halls for anyone she knew, or would be getting to know. She frowned slightly as she noticed they had no new transfers, it was all just the same people from last year, with the exception of the first years of course.
She sighed and pursed her lips as she took the lip gloss out of her pocket and aplied some to her smooth lips. As Elizabeth watched the new Slytherins walk up to the table, she wondered whether they knew what they were in for. If they knew that the house they had just joined was full of future dark wizards and witches. She sighed as the sorting was finally over, and looked down at the plates of food which had appeared before her eyes. Not feeling to hungry, Kale got up and walked up to the Slytherin commons. She didn't feel like being in the great hall with her, 'friends' at the moment. But then again, it was quite early, she doubted anyone would join her so soon. Maybe Kale would just end up being in here alone. Flicking her wand, she summoned her notebook of which she loved to write fiction in. Some of it was full of random things, like poems or song lyrics, but much of it was a story she was working on. About a vampire who falls in love with a muggle, he knows they cannot be together, but he cannot help but continue to persue her. Whiles he doing this, the muggle is attepting to get herself out of an arranged marridge, and trying to figure out why her new friend, the vampire, is so different from everyone else. Yes, her story was very dramatic, and full of suffering, but Kale enjoyed that. She loved watching people suffer, and writing about someone's suffering was much fun for her.
She opened her book and re-read her last entry, she tapped her quill upon the pages wondering what to write next. As no new ideas came to her mind, she returned the book back to her dorm room, and instead just sat there, staring into the fire. The flames reflected in her spark filled blue eyes. She watched as the flames danced around, licking the stoned which incased them. She sighed and layed down across the the couch, leaving little space at the end for one person to sit down. She shut her eyes, and placed her hands behind her head for extra comfort. Thinking of her summer, she slowly began to drift off, for she was quite exhausted from having to get up so early, as she had gotten so used to sleeping in late over the summer. With her eyes closed, and her attention turned to things which had nothing to do with school, she took no notice when someone new walked into the room.

Draco sat at the Slytherin table, waiting impatiently for the sorting to end. This was the most dull part of the first day back from summer holiday. He hated it. Why couldn't the first years just be sorted before everyone else comes to the school? It would make a lot of people's lives much easier. Draco counted the number of firsts years, but gave up after reaching twenty. He sighed and placed his elbow on the table and his head in his hand. This was going to take forever.
Draco closed his eyes and allowed his thoughts to drift. He didn't have much to think about at the moment. His summer was the usual. He hung out with a couple of friends. Well, the people he usually hangs out with. Draco wouldn't exactly call them 'friends'. They knew him more than everyone else did though, so I guess they would qualify as friends. Over the summer, they didn't do much when they hung out, though. They just talked about random things. Although, they did make a bit of mischeif. What do you expect? Draco is a boy. Of course he's going to fool around and get introuble.
The voice of the Headmistress interrupted his thoughts. Draco's eyes opened and he noticed the Sorting Hat was no longer there and the Headmistress was making the Beginning of the Year Announcements. This part of the feast also bored him. However, it wasn't as bad at the Sorting. Draco closed his eyes again and tried to think, but nothing came to mind, so he opened them and waited for the announcements to be over.
Finally, they were over! The food appeared and Draco put some on his plate. He noticed a Slytherin girl had left. Draco knew the girl as Kale Andrea Mathews. They talked a bit. And, were pretty good friendish type people. He made a mental note to talk to her soon, then continued eating.
Draco had finished eating his food, and was not impatiently waiting for the people he was with to finish. Getting too impatient, Draco decided to go find Kale. Now was a good time to do it anyway. Draco stood up and said his goodbyes before walking out of the Great Hall.
Draco didn't look very hard for Kale. He decided he wasn't in the mood to look like an idiot, looking in every classroom for someone. So, on his way to the Slytherin Common Room, Draco would look in random places where he thought Kale would be. However, he didn't open any doors. If they were already open, he would take a peek in, but that is it.
Draco reached the Slytherin Common Room, and still no sign of Kale. He shugged then muttered the password and walked in. This year, Draco was awarded Head Boy, so he couldn't stay here for long. He had to get everyone and tell them the password. But, he was fine for now. People would be stuffing their faces for about another hour.
Once Draco walked in, his attentioned turned to a girl on the couch. Kale! He walked over and sat in one of the comfy chairs. His feet were over one arm of the chaid, and his back was leaning against the other. He was facing Kale. "Hey." He finally said, hoping she wasn;t alseep. If she was, there would be no point in being in the common room.

AS Kale began to drift off she felt a sudden presence in the room. She kept her eyes closed. If they wanted to talk they would. She heard a familiar voice greet her. Keeping her eyes closed she smirked. Draco Malfoy. Sure, Kale didn't have realy friends, but if she had to choose which was closest, it had to be Draco. They had been going to school togetherr since the first year. Soon they became what may be called friends, and as they grew older, friends with benefits was added to their list of relationships.
Kale hadn't seen Draco since the end of june, she had afterall spent the summer in America, in the dirty streets of New York. It was fun, many things there to keep her busy, but it was nothing like England. There were many muggles wandering the street, muggles which Kale thought were worth less than dirt.
"Hey Draco." She finally said, choosing to keep her eyes closed, knowing he would be staring at her. Who didn't stare at her? Her blond hair which so magnificently shone on her shoulders, and her blue eyes which jsut happened to always catch the attention of those looking. Her smirk stayed lingering upon her pink lips, as she waited for his reply.

Draco looked at Kale, waiting to see if she was awake or not. He felt relieved when she talked. He didn't come all the way down here for nothing! Finally, Draco had someone interesting to talk to. His train ride here wasn't very good. He ended up coming back to school, even though exactly a year ago, he said he wouldn't. Draco wasn't too bummed about that though. Personally, he was kind of fond of this school. It entertained him.
"How was your summer?" Draco asked. He asked everyone this without thinking about it. It's not like he cared. It was just a good conversation starter. Although, since he is talking to Kale, he would care a bit more. They were close. Draco felt like he could tell her almost anything and trust her with that information.
Draco knew Kale went to America. But, he didn't talk to her at all after she returned. That was a reason why he asked as well. He, himself, has never been to America, and never plans to. He hates America. It is Muggle invested. Although, there probably is some Magical school somewhere, he didn't know about it, therefore it wasn't existing. America is also dirty. It is a filthy, filthy place. There is a lot of polution and littering. It's amazing how they can survive.

"My Summer? Eh, it was okay. My Father made me go to America with him. Apparently he had 'important buissness' to attend to. See, if mother was alive, I would have been able to stay in England, he would have taken her and just left me alone in the mansion." Kale said, disgust filling her voice. "But you know me, I wouldn't actually be alone. Probably have someone over everyday..." She drifted off, the smirk returning to her lips as she opened her eyes.
"And what about yours Draco? Anything interesting?" She looked at him with interest in her eyes. It was a wonder why she treated Draco so differently than others. It seemed like she actually cared about what he thought. That's not very common comming from Kale. She normally didn't care about others, or took any interest in what they had to say. She ran a hand through her hair, making it stick up on end. She brushed through it with her fingers, restoring it to it's natural smooth texture.
She sat up as she spoke, the fire reflecting in her eyes. She patted the couch beside her, inviting Draco to come sit. As good of 'friends' as they were, Kale wasn't exactly sure if she could trust Draco. She was never really sure if his feelings were pure like he acted. he was one who fooled many girls to get what he wanted, never Kale. He acted as a 'friend' should, but only towards Kale, like Kale acted only towards him.

"Sounds like fun." Draco said sarcastically. He hoped his father had no intensions to drag him to America. Well, he probably wouldn't take him anyway, if he had to to. But, Draco's mother might. Although, there was some question about whether or not she would take him. But, he would most likely be stuck at the manor with the new house elf and some people to hang out with.
Draco thought for a moment. "My summer..." he said, thinking of a way he could make it seem more fun. "My summer was a dud." He said with no emotion. "All I did, really, was hang out with some people and get into a bit of trouble. Nothing extrordinarily interesting." His summers were always this boring. It was very hard to keep Draco interested in something. He got bored VERY easily. It's not that he has ADD, because he doesn't. He just doesn't find many things interesting.
Draco noticed Kale's gesture for him to sit down next to her. He waited a moment, then slid off the chair and sat down on the edge of the couch. He leeaned back into the corner and rested one arm on the back of the couch and the other on the arm rest. He then propped his feet on the coffee table.

She turned to face him as he sat down, crossing her legs and placing her hands in her lap. "Oh yes Draco. Oh so very fun." She replied, rolling her eyes. "There wasn't exactly anyone there to keep me busy. All I could find were those god damned muggles." Kale complained, looking her friend in the eyes. His eyes were always so cold, they never held any emotion. Unlike Kale, who's eyes held everythign you needed to know about her. "Of course maybe if you were with me..." She drifted off, a smirk returning to her lips.
"The food isn't too bad though. And the hotel, or whatever they call it, was okay. Nice pool." She said, hiding the fact that she had thought some of the muggle men wer attractive. And that they were, although they obviously were not worth kale's time, she had to play the game. What else was she suposed to do? Not like anyone interesting was there.
With a shrug she turned away to look into the fire, allowing herself to be engulfed in it's flickering flames. "So Draco. What's new? Found any new girls you would like to stalk?" She asked jokingly, knowing it was the other way around. Girls stalked Draco everywhere he went, he was a total babe magnet. Sometimes it made Kale jealous too see him out there with a different girl every few days, she didn't know why, it just did. Although she hid it very well, not allowing anyone to know.

Draco thought about what Kale said. "Of course maybe if you were with me..." A small smirk came to his lips when she said that. "I wouldn't go to America even if my life depended on it." Draco said, which was a lie. He would go if his life depended on it, mainly because he thought his life was precious and important. And, possibly, if he was there with somebody, he wouldn't mind going. But, they had to be a somebody he enjoyed being around. Someone like Kale...
Draco shrugged. He then shook his head. "Not really." He said. "I had a few snogs, but they weren't stalking material." He said joking about the stalking thing. Draco didn't stalk people. He just minded his own business and would run into the same girl numerous times a day. Not of his doing, though. They must stalk him or something. "What about you?" Draco redirected the question. "Any guys?" He asked. Draco could never be around Kale when she was with a guy. He didn't know why. Could it be because he was jealous? Or perhaps he just couldn't stand public display of affection. Who knows?

Kale smirked at his question. Yes there had been guys, none who were actually worthy of her time. They were muggles afterall. In fact there had been many, but she would never admit that to Draco. "Maybe one or two. Don't really remember." She said with a smirk, adverting her gaze from his handsome face. She looked out the window, and into the star filled sky. They shone like diamonds in the sky, glittering and shimmmering accoss the empty blackness.
Standing up, Kale walked up to the window, arms crossed, leaning against the wall, staring out the window. Sometimes she wished she would sprout wings and fly away, away from the world she had been thrown into without permission. Her life had been changed after he rmother drank that poison, that had to be the day Kale grew up, her childhood had ended right there, and let me tell you, it is not the best way to end ones childhood. Instead of one Kale remembered with joy and happiness, all she remembered was pain and sorrow. Because of that one incedent.
She sighed and stared up into the sky, squinting against the light of the moon and stars combined. It was a cloudless night, nice and warm. How hapy Kale was to be away from home finally, could not even be measured.

Draco stayed on the couch for a bit longer, even though Kale was over by the window. "One or two?" He asked with a small smirk across his lips. "By the look on your face, I'd say there were probably a bit more." He continued to look at her to see if there was any sign of there being anymore guys. "I believe you do remember." Draco said. He was only joking with her. She didn't have to tell him about everything if she didn't want to. Plus, that was more of a girly topic. He wasn't into girly topics. Draco's idea of fun wasn't exactly talking about snogs, unless it was with a guy and they were talking about how good a particular girl is at snogging.
Finally, Draco, too, stood up and walked over to the window Kale was at. He leaned against the wall on the other side of the window. His arms were crossed over his chest. Kale looked like she was thinking about something that troubled her. But, he didn't know if she was. It was just what he thought. Draco decided to let Kale say something; he didn't want to interrupt her thoughts. Believe it or not, he did have respect. Well, he had resepct for his so called 'friends'.

Pulled out of her thoughts as he walked over to her, Kale chuckled at Draco's words. "Okay. so maybe two or three. That dosn't mean you need to know." She added with a wink. "Besides, you'd never let me live it down!" She laughed a little, and smiled. Her eyes connected with his, trying to read his emotions. It was like trying to read a blank book. Nothing to read. She wanted to know what he was thinking, what was going through his mind. She wanted to n\know what he thought about when he saw her, if he thought anything at all.
Before she could open her mouth to say anythingelse, something outside the windwo caught her eys. A bright flash running through the sky. A shooting star. "Make a wish Draco, quick before it's gone." She said closing her eyes. I want my life back. She thought to herself, a slight frown on her lips. She opened her eyes slowly, with a quick glance out the window, she returned her gaze to Draco, wishing she was skilled in legimens. She wantd to know what he wished for, if he wished for anythign at all.

"Would I?" Draco asked with a small smirk. "So, what did you do that would make me never let you live it down?" He asked, not wanting to know the answer. But, his nosey ways beat him to it. Draco didn't really mean to ask that question. But, he was an extremely nosey person, and asked anyway. He was going to regret it though. He knew he would. It was just a feeling he had. Hopefully, Kale wouldn't tell him. Draco did not want to get into a girly conversation. That's the last thing he wanted this conversatino to turn into.
Draco looked at Kale quizzically, but decided he should probably do as she said. He tried to think of something to wish on. But, there wasn't really anything coming to mind. What did he want to wish for? Nothing. So, he decided to wish for something pointless. I don't want to be stuck in a conversation about Kale's snogs. That was his wish. That could have two meanings. That could mean that he was jealous and didn't want to hear about it, or it could mean he didn't want to talk about them because it just wasn't manly. Or, perhaps, both.

Kale winked, and took a step forward. "A thing or two." She replied, a smirk playing along her lips. She flicked her hair out of her eyes, and looked away from the window, her hands gently drifting off the ledge. She tilted her head to the side. "Draco, I am incredibly bored, and somewhat depressed. You aren't being much help." She said bluntly. Kale was a truthful girl, something you don't find in too many kids these days. She had no problem speaking her mind, and didn't care if people thought she was being rude or not.
She ran a hand through her perfect blond hair, and put it up in a messy bun. She pushed her side bangs behind her ears and out of her eyes. She bit the corner of her lip as she took in Draco's apearance. There was no dount he was a very attractive young man. His platnum blond hair always getting in his face, his blue eyes which tell nothing, and the pointed face which rarely held emotion. She had grown used to these features, but never ceased to admire them.

"Well, I'm sorry. What would you like me to do?" Draco asked. He knew Kale didn't mind saying what was on her mind, and he had no problem with it. He actually kind of admired it. He rarely said what was on his mind. Usually, Draco kept to himself. He never opened up to anybody. He didn't know if he could trust them. Even with the random things, like what Kale had just told him. He would say them sometimes, though. With people who were his mates; friendish type people. Draco looked at Kale to see what she was going to say in reply to his question.
Draco noticed Kale was looking at his appearance. His small smirk returned to his lips. "Like what you see?" He teased. Draco knew he was good looking. He thought very highly of himself. Draco looked at Kale to see her appearance. She was looking just as good as he was. Kale was really attractive. Personally, he thought she looked good naturally. He didn't know why she put on all her girly make-up and stuff. She didn't need it. But, he didn't understand about that stuff, so he just let it go and kept his mouth shut.

She smirked, all thoughts of her past wiped from her mind. "Well Draco, I have some ideas, but I'm not sure you can handle them." She took yet another step forward, twirling a loose strand of hair around her finger. She heard Draco's comment about her liking what she saw. She hid a blush and said in reply, I might. And what about you kind sir. I'm sure your liking what's infront of your eyes at the moment."
Yes, Kale was beautiful, and she knew it. Yet another thing that made her and Draco so alike. They both held their heads up high, not caring what other people thought. Both looked good and knew it, and never did they show it. Just Flirting. Mere flirting is the only thing we do. I want more. Wait what? Kale asked herself shocked. She never really thought of Draco as more than a friend, she always thought those feeling she got when she saw him with other girls were just, well just feelings. The fact that she did not like public displays of affection. There was no way Kale was beginning to create feelings for Draco, her long time friend. Possibly her only friend, or the only person she considered a friend. It just wasn't possible.
