Keyword: Spice
Character's Full Name:Lynn Laurice
Nicknames, pseudo names:Just Lynn
Age && Birthday:17/August 3rd
Year:7
Allegiance:Death Eater
Blood:Half
House:Slytherin
Eye color: Chocolate Brown
Hair color:Dark Brown
Height:5’2”
General Appearance:Beauty is only skin deep, or at least that’s what they tell us. But no one can deny that there aren’t certain types of beauties one can possess. For Lynn she possesses a doll-like beauty. Her skin is slightly tan, stretched over a round cherub like face. Her eyes are wide and round like those of a doll with a glimmer covering the bright eyes irises. Looking into her eyes is like unlocking Pandora’s Box. You release a tide of emotions that swim in her crystal brown eyes. Surrounding her eyes are long, thick, black eye lashes- that when covered with mascara add to her doll-like appearance.
From there we move to her nose, which like the rest of her features, resemble that of the small round nose of a doll. Not small enough to appear out-of-place but small enough to go in proportion with her small features. Across her nose, during the summertime only, you’ll find light speckling of freckles on her bridge making their way across her high cheekbones. They only appear after she has spent long enough time in the sun to bring them forth. Down her face we travel to her lips, small upper lip, and plump bottom lip. The shade of her lips could be compared to that of peach.
On top of her hair sits a pile of wavy, dark brown hair, dark enough to make her father proud. More often then not Lynn allows her hair to just simply hang about her shoulders in a mass of wavy curls. Her hair is at its heightened curliness however after she has washed it or it simply has been wetted. Often, however, she’ll straighten her hair but still leave it hanging. Lynn doesn’t like to pull her hair up often, it feels too constricting and it pulls. She much prefers the freedom of letting her hair down. But don’t get me wrong there will be the old occasion when she allows it to be pulled up. It mostly depends on how she feels that particular day.
Lynn is rather short for her age. Last time she went to the doctor he measured her at 5’2 but she comes by this height naturally. Her mother only stands at 5’4 ½, her father however comes in at 6’2 exactly. But most people declare she looks more like her mum then she ever did her dad. With her short frame comes her body. Her shoulders are small and shapely. They are flat then round off at the end falling into her short arms. Her upper torso is a petite shape. Her chest only being C34, trust me she wishes she could cast some spell to have bigger breasts. But alas that’s not the way magic works.
Down her torso we make it to her hips, which are probably her favorite body part. Her hips are curvy, in her adorable petite way. Her waist however is small, to put it into size Lynn could probably easily fit into one of those old corsets women use to wear without trouble. Finally we make it to her legs; she has long, lean legs. The kinds of legs guys love to look at. These are her second favorite body part. Down her legs we come to her feet, she has small feet. But she likes them. Her feet could easily fit into a 6 ½ sized shoe, giving her the appearance of child-like feet. But she’s okay with that.
Strengths:One of Lynn’s strength is her almost relentless and ruthless quick wit. If anybody tries to out-do her in comebacks, she will immediately tear the person down with her harsh criticism. Don’t even try to keep going back and forth with her on those because she will never give up or run out of ideas, thus always leaving the victim the loser. It is very rare for her to actually care for somebody, but when she does she is fiercely loyal to them. Lynn will stick up for that person no matter what, even if the person is wrong for what they did. Lynn seems to have a certain devilish charm, burning ambition to prove herself better than the rest and unadulterated passion, especially when it comes to dark arts. If she is ever to lazy to actually argue with someone, which is what her father would do, she takes the easy route her mother would take and uses her extraordinary persuasion skills. She can basically convince mostly anyone to anything. That is, if they have a weak mind. The stronger mind seems to be a little bit harder for her. Lynn has proved in the past that she has an amazing good photogenic memory. Show her something once and she can remember it years later. Lynn has been blessed to being able to be skilled without a wand. She is not much more advanced then regular people, but she can seriously hurt someone if she ever gets into a fist fight. Although the first impression of Lynn is someone who doesn’t really keep things tidy, she surprisingly has good organizational skills. In fact, messy people themselves are a huge pet peeve of hers. Lynn has amazing flexibility, even though that really isn’t an ‘amazing’ thing. But it does cause many ‘oohs’ and ‘ahs’ from people. It may not be so much of a strength, but Lynn tends to think that she has good humor. Sure its always sarcastic but that’s just what she finds funny. Determination is another key strength for Lynn. If she sets her mind on something and she believes she can do it, she won’t stop trying to do the task until it is accomplished.
Weaknesses:Lynn absolutely loathes being told what to do. She likes to be the one ordering people around, so she can’t stand it when its vice versa. Lynn is a laid back girl, so that’s what mostly everyone thinks of her as. But what they don’t know is that she cares very much about her looks. She feels that she has to look perfect for whatever occasion it is. This tends to be a task for her though because she always makes it look like she didn’t put too much effort into her features, so that tends to take up another half-an-hour of doing make-up and hair. For example she could curl her hair and think it looks to nice so she’ll just mess it up and redo it less ‘pretty’. Although she can’t help it, Lynn is prone to adopt the ideals and principles of her family and those she adores. She never wants to, but at times it seems like she doesn’t have a choice but to adapt whatever they do. Unfortunately, she is vulnerable to quite some allergies and diseases due to her quite vulnerable immune system. She tends to get sick very often and has to head up to the Hospital Wing at least once a month. That’s one reason that Lynn tries not to care about anybody, she expects an early death and thinks its just a waste of time to trying to get the respect of someone. Lynn is extremely disastrous at cooking. She either relies on her parents home cooking, or the school’s food. When she moves out of her house in a couple years, she knows already that she’s going to strive on take-out. Lynn is too much of a critic towards other people. She will find flaws on even some of the most prettiest girls. She doesn't really find herself pretty in her own opinion. Lynn can barely stand to look in a mirror because in her eyes there is nothing good to look at. To her, everything about her is just wrong. But then again, she is really picky about details like that.
Interests && Hobbies:Lynn doesn’t show it but she is absolutely in love with Quidditch. No one has probably noticed, but she goes to almost every game played, even if its not the Slytherin team. Lynn tends to always sneak out past curfew and gets on her new Nimbus broom she had bought herself with her own money, and just ride around the Quidditch Pitch. She can play almost every position pretty well. Although she prefers the beater position, seeing as it does help her take her anger out.
Sexual Orientation:Straight
Something Unique About Your Character:Lynn wishes that she could say there was something unique about her, but in reality there isn’t. She just tends to be strange at times. Its not that she’s a weird person, but its hard for her to actually let anyone grow close and so she doesn’t seem to open up to anyone unless their special enough.
Personality:Depth and charisma make Lynn a formidable presence. What you see is not what you get. Her many interests and insatiable thirst for knowledge results in an increasingly complex persona, furthermore, with her penchant for secrecy, she’s not likely to let you see how much is there is to know about her. More than any other person, Lynn knows how to present herself when she wants, in the most favorable light. The downside of this is that she is likely to tire of and discard the lesser mortals. An even bigger danger is that she believes in revenge; so, don't cross her.
Quiet and unassuming, she prefers to work by herself and is more often in the spotlight for her real and lasting accomplishments than for outward attempts at garnering attention. Lynn hates to fail. Essentially a loner, she commonly keeps her own counsel and relies on herself to get ahead in life, mistrusting others' thoughts and opinions on matters of the utmost importance. Facts, too, get in the way of decision making for Lynn, who prefers to use her own deeply held feelings and intuition in negotiating life's crossroads. In matters of the heart, she can be deeply amorous, jealous in nature, and does not handle rejection well at all. And woe to those who betray her trust and affection!
Lynn is witty and humorous, and can cut rivals down to size with just the right well-turned phrase from her forked tongue. She is used to getting her own way in things -- which is why she is capable of throwing a temper tantrum or two if balked on the odd occasion. She is free of the vice of false modesty, as you have it, flaunt it, and make no bones about it. She prefers her home space to be an inviolate nest of comfort, as place to recharge from the stresses of the day. Those who wrong her will meet with intense vengeance somewhere along the line, as she is never quick to forget a slight.
Subtle, secretive, elusive and enigmatic, there is an element of the mysterious that surrounds Lynn. Perhaps this is due to her intuitive faculties, or perhaps it is a consequence of her strong inner spirituality which can manifest itself in an interest in religion, mysticism or the occult.
She’s extremely determined and strives for what she desires regardless of circumstances; she can be counted on to carry a project through to the end. She accomplishes her goals through careful plans and calculations. Her decisions are quick and firm, but they are formed by first impressions, on sympathies and feelings logically assembled in her mind -- rather than by simple facts alone. She’ll fight and plod for anything she believes in and allows nothing to stand in her way, at ease in all circumstances and possessing uncommon self-discipline and immense mental capacity.
The fatal flaw in her character is, in fact, a tendency to exaggerate -- in killing as with everything else. If she does somebody a favor, she becomes possessive toward them in an odd way, so that finally she is more a hindrance than a help. Her serpentine nature leads her to coil and cling to the point where she can suffocate the object of her attention. Think twice then, before you accept her offer of help; you could regret it! She can be ruthless when challenged. Since she’s the master of the human psyche, this makes her a formidable enemy.
In money matters, she has good luck -- she simply doesn't have to worry about it. She will always be able to get money when she needs it, and she feels this so strongly that it has never bothered her at all. Once she has got it, though, she's a little stingy; that's why she never lends.
By nature, she is a skeptical being, but unlike most, she tends to keep her suspicions to herself. She treasures her privacy and will have many a dark secret locked up within her. Elegant in speech, dress and manners, Lynn does not like indulging in useless small talk or frivolities. She can be quite generous with money, but is known to be ruthless when she wants to attain an important objective. She has no qualms about eliminating anyone who stands in her way.
It is never safe to draw a line and predict that this is how far Lynn will go. Her computer-like brain never stops plotting and she can be viciously unrelenting. In her relationships with others, she is possessive, and very demanding. And yet at the same time, she views her associates with certain distrust. She will never forgive anyone who breaks a promise. She is also prone to being neurotic, even paranoid, where her pet fears and suspicions are concerned.
When Lynn’s anger is roused, her hatred can be limitless. Her antagonism is silent and deep-rooted. An icy hostility will express her displeasure instead of a volley of hot words. The more lethal types will like to crush their enemies totally. There is no foretelling her movements. Her mind is calculation itself and she has the staying power to wait until the time is ripe for her revenge. For those luckless souls who incur her wrath, self-exile to Siberia may not seem like such a bad prospect.
She is the original femme fatale. Her cool, serene and classic beauty will mesmerize people. She is confident and collected and although she oftentimes lolls around, giving the impression of indolence and love of ease, she is far from slothful. Her brain is never at rest.
You can't blame her if she seems a bit puzzled by all the fuss made over equal rights for men and women. She has always had the secret notion that girls were born superior, although she has never been so stupid as to spill the beans to those unsuspecting squires that court her so lavishly. Why spoil a perfectly workable arrangement? She will humor the guys so long as they give in to her wishes.
Sure she has a sense of humor. Of course, it may be different than everyone else’s. She prefers dry, sarcastic, sometimes even cruel humor, which usually only amuses her. Nonetheless, it's there. The best time to observe this is when she is under duress. In a crisis, she can still crack a joke to lighten the atmosphere. Even when she is weighed down by enormous troubles, she will not lose that twinkle.
By now, you must gather that it will be no mean task dealing with her. What makes it even trickier is the fact that under all that serenity she is always on guard. Her outward calm never betrays her true feelings. She knows and plans her moves well in advance. She has willpower and will maintain her position to the bitter end. She can be very evasive and elusive when she chooses and just when you think you have got a grip on her--she wriggles free. Needless to say, she makes the perfect politician. She can negotiate anything under the sun when she puts her mind to it.
In times of confusion and trouble, she can be a pillar of strength because she maintains her presence of mind. She can deal with bad news and misfortune with great aplomb. She has a profound sense of responsibility and an unsinkable constancy of purpose.
Basically, Lynn dislikes everyone that annoys her, frightens her, or just doesn’t interest her. One could describe her as a malignant narcissist as she has no actual conscience, empathy is lacking on her part and thinks of herself as better than all the rest. From this we derive that such a person would not possibly allow oneself to be around people said person thinks of as ‘not worthy’ to be in their presence, but seeing as they’re the most wonderful thing created on the planet, no one is worthy and therefore, no one is their friend, unless they actually do find someone worthy enough.
Now, she has no actual friends, yet you must understand that not everyone is her enemy. Since she lacks empathy most of the time, and is slightly sadistic, hence her hobbies, she doesn’t hate everyone. She does not pity anyone for their lack of… well, being her, she just… nothings them. She’s indifferent about the people around her and this is why she doesn’t consider a lot of people her enemy. Perhaps a lot of people take a dislike towards her, but this doesn’t mean they’re good enough to be noticed by her or even become so much as an enemy.
Family:Father; Sammael Laurice » Forty-two » Slytherin, Death Eater. Deceased.
Mother; Saphirah Laurice – Burke [[Maiden Name]] » Thirty-nine » Slytherin, Supporter.
Brother; Seere Laurice » Twenty-four » Slytherin, Incarnate. Deceased.
Character History:Lynn Laurice was born on August 13th, sixteen years ago. Sammael wasn’t particularly happy she was a female, but seeing as he already had his son – Seere Laurice - he raised her no less, as much as he could, because in the end, it was the mother’s job to teach the daughter about etiquette, manners and such things. Lynn never liked the teachings her mother bestowed upon her, nor the parties, where the women never said what they really thought of each other, their annoying daughters who seemed to possess no brain activity whatsoever, and the relentless introductions to potential husbands. Although she knew she oughtn’t to complain, she found her life to be a boring one. She spent most of her spare time reading through books of fairytales and the occasional Dark Arts books.
She was fascinated by the Dark Arts, something her mother insisted a lady like her should wish nothing to do with. But her father encouraged her, enjoying his daughter’s fascination in the Dark Arts. It spoke of torture and dark dealings, the old ways and the Other World. She was especially interested in the Other World, with deities of old and their awesome powers, the triple Goddess of war and chaos, the Morrígan and the powerful God of thunder, Thor.
And then she came upon another peculiar book. It was small, but very thick and it looked old too. It read ‘Holy Bible’ on the front in beautiful gold letters. She read about all kinds of characters and although it seemed like another fairytale, something told her it was not. She was a little skeptic about all these stories, though. Muggles who split seas? Walked on water? Well, obviously she thought that if muggles could, she could do it better. She was a being of pure magic, after all, and if that wasn’t enough, what was?
That day she nearly drowned, at seven years old, if it had not been for her father and she had never come close to open waters again. She was fine with running water, or even a bathtub. But as soon as it spread a kilometer wide, she would refuse to even touch the water, in fear repeating what had happened that day. But it was forgotten after a year as was the book. When she looked for it a year later, she couldn’t find it and she never had.
And then came Hogwarts. Hogwarts was an entirely new experience for her, an experience she had come to enjoy very much. It seemed people were wary of her because of her last name and Lynn couldn’t have wanted it any other way. Let them be scared. Fear meant power for her and she loved having power over people. She soon began to prove her worth among those Slytherins who weren’t impressed, particularly those who knew her from before Hogwarts. She became a force to not be reckoned with, her intelligence and cold stare, void of any emotion it seemed able to make people uneasy like that. She made sure people knew what their place was and interacted with the people her parents ordered her to interact with, even if she desperately wanted to choke one of the sons or daughters of high status pure bloods.
Soon, like life before Hogwarts, Lynn lost her interest in certain people, certain things and only interacted with people when she really needed to. She started reading again, writing homework was one of her favorite things because she liked being better than the rest and rub it in their faces too. She knew people were jealous and it only made her happier, motivating her to study harder and become the best.
And as she studied, she did miss the library back at home, chock full of everything she needed to know about the Dark Arts – from potions that made your skin crawl, to curses that made your mind freeze at the gruesome of it all. But naturally, as she requested some to be sending to her to Hogwarts, her mother refused, saying the Dark Arts were not for ladies. She was to be a good wife – a trophy wife, most likely – like any other good, half blooded girl, marry a respectable man and leave the dark dealings to her husband.
Just the thought made her sick to the stomach, so, in her fourth year, she decided had read enough Dark Arts books already, summer after summer, and seeing as her ancestral family was not only known for their sick love of torture, but also their imaginative minds to create all kinds of Dark Arts curses, she had decided to try and follow in their footsteps. After all, Lynn was full of family pride, and she was amazed by all the unpublished, private books located in Selwyn Manor for centuries. A week before she went home, Lynn had finally created and perfected what would be her best work yet; The Vesanian Curse.
The Vesanian Curse was something she was immensely proud of. It was new, something not even her ancestors had come up with. You see, they were all about pain and torture, and although Lynn whole-mindedly agreed with them on this, she always liked people inflicting pain on each other unintentionally, yet without a mind to really stop it, rather than being the guilty party. That’s how she came with the idea. Those simple words, ‘Inuro Vesania’, were Latin for ‘inflict insanity’. And that was what it did. She only had to think about her most sickest ideas, her most vivid dreams someone else would call nightmares, her most violent of feelings while casting the curse, and it would work like a charm. So to say unless they were a bit too deep and illegal for the matter. Then it most likely wouldn’t work.
After she had practiced the final result of the spell on a group of rabbits in the forest near their residence, she showed her father. He told her how proud he was, what with her grades and now her following her family’s example and it made Lynn feel worthy. Perhaps it was that time, at the rather young age of thirteen that she had decided what she wanted to be when she graduated. She had heard about something called Death Eaters, father told her all about it, in fact he had been one and she would bet her life that nothing would make her daddy dearest more proud of his daughter than if she joined the ranks.
The summer before her third year, however, she got notice that her brother had been killed. Not by Aurors, or even by magic, but by a muggle. Lynn had always told him not to underestimate anyone, and he had now, killed by a kitchen knife, stabbed six times in the throat before a fellow Death Eater had killed the man protecting his family. They hadn’t been able to save him, but Lynn couldn’t care less. Someone who allowed themselves to overestimate anyone, deserved to die. She didn’t mourn, she didn’t cry. And so comes another year at Hogwarts, doing nothing to fuel her interest.
Although she knows it’s shameful if a girl of a half-blooded family is not married upon graduation, Lynn couldn’t care less about things like ‘courting’ or men, marriages, heirs or respect to others. As long as her father agrees with her, which he does, nothing is wrong. After all, father had his lady – that being Sephirah – but she was daddy’s princess, no matter how much he expected from her. Because Lynn knows that if she wants or doesn’t want something from her father, it’s going to happen. She is his first rose. And most likely his last true rose too.
Early in her fourth year, however, she received a letter. A letter saying her father was dead.
